How do I set up my pingICE sticker?⌄
Simply scan the QR code on your sticker with your phone camera — no app needed. You'll be taken to a setup form. Fill in your name, blood type, allergies, and up to two emergency contacts. Hit "Activate" and your sticker is live immediately.
Do I need to download an app?⌄
No app needed — ever. pingICE works entirely through your phone's browser. Anyone with a smartphone can scan your sticker and see your information.
How long does setup take?⌄
About 2 minutes. You only ever do it once.
Where should I put the sticker?⌄
The inside bottom corner of your windscreen (driver's side) is the most common spot. It's visible to anyone who stops at your car but protected from weather. Some people also put one on their helmet, bike frame, or luggage.
Updating Your Details
How do I update my information after setup?⌄
Scan your sticker QR code again — since it's already set up, it will take you to your emergency page. Scroll to the very bottom and tap "Update my details". Your changes are live immediately. You never need to reprint or replace your sticker.
Can I change my emergency contacts?⌄
Yes — update them any time by scanning your sticker and tapping "Update my details" at the bottom of the page.
What if I change my phone number?⌄
Scan your sticker, go to "Update my details", and update your contact's number. The change is instant.
In an Emergency
What does a helper see when they scan my sticker?⌄
They first see a confirmation screen asking if they're responding to an emergency (this prevents accidental scans). If they tap Yes, they see your name, blood type, allergies, and medical notes — plus a big button to alert your emergency contacts via SMS with their location.
What SMS do my emergency contacts receive?⌄
They receive a message saying your sticker was scanned, the approximate location of the person who scanned it (if they allowed location access), and a prompt to go to that location urgently.
What if the SMS doesn't go through?⌄
The emergency page also shows direct call buttons for each of your contacts — so even if the SMS fails, the helper can call them directly with one tap. Always call 000 (or your local emergency number) first in any life-threatening situation.
Does the helper need to share their phone number?⌄
No. The helper's number is never shown or stored. Only their approximate location (if they grant permission) is included in the SMS to your contacts.
Lost & Found Tags
How does a Lost & Found tag work?⌄
Attach the tag to your keys, wallet, bag, laptop or pet collar. If the item is lost and someone finds it, they scan the tag and land on your finder page — where they can reach you to arrange its return.
What's the difference between "relay" and "direct" contact?⌄
In relay mode, finders send you a message through pingICE and your phone number stays completely private — you get notified and can reply on your terms. In direct mode, the finder sees the phone or email you chose to share. You can switch between them any time from your dashboard.
Can I add a photo to my tag?⌄
Yes. Adding a photo of your item helps a finder confirm they've got the right thing and makes your finder page feel personal and trustworthy. Add or change it any time from the dashboard.
How do I read messages from finders?⌄
Open your dashboard → Lost & Found tab → tap "Messages" on the tag. You'll see every message with one-tap Call, Text back and Email back shortcuts, plus unread badges so nothing slips through.
Can I pause a tag?⌄
Yes. Pause a tag any time and scans won't reach you until you reactivate it. Handy once an item is back home, or if you're re-purposing a tag.
Keychain
What makes the keychain different?⌄
It does two jobs from one tag. When you tap it yourself, it opens your owner hub — start an accident report or preview your Lost & Found page. When a stranger taps it (say they found your dropped keys), they see your Lost & Found finder page instead.
How does it know if it's me or a stranger?⌄
If you're signed in on the device and own the tag, you get the hub. Everyone else gets the finder page. You can always preview the finder view from your dashboard's Keychain tab.
Do I set up both features separately?⌄
No — activating a keychain sets up both at once. Your accident details are saved to your profile and a Lost & Found item is created on the tag in a single step.
Accident Reports
When would I use an accident report?⌄
After a collision or incident. The guided form walks you through capturing the other driver's details, photos, location and a description — so you have everything your insurer needs while it's fresh.
Is my information pre-filled?⌄
Yes. Your name, vehicle registration and insurance details carry over from your profile, so you only fill in what's specific to the incident.
Can I share the report with my insurer?⌄
Yes. Reports can be exported as a tidy PDF you can email or hand to your insurer. Your saved reports also live in your dashboard for easy access later.
Privacy & Security
Who can see my medical information?⌄
Anyone who scans your QR code and confirms they're responding to an emergency. This is intentional — in a real emergency, first responders and bystanders need this information quickly. Only include information you're comfortable being visible in that context.
Is my data stored securely?⌄
Yes. Your data is stored in Supabase, a secure cloud database. We don't sell your data or use it for any purpose other than running your emergency profile.
How do I delete my information?⌄
Email us at hello@pingice.com and we'll delete your profile within 30 days. You can also simply update your details to remove any sensitive information.
Are my contact's phone numbers visible on screen?⌄
No. The call buttons show your contact's name only. Their phone number is never displayed — tapping the button dials them directly.
Technical
What phones does pingICE work on?⌄
Any smartphone with a camera and internet connection. No app required. Works on iPhone and Android.
What if there's no internet at the accident scene?⌄
The QR code requires internet to load the profile. If there's no signal, the page won't load — this is a limitation to be aware of. In truly remote areas, always carry a paper medical card as backup.
I lost my sticker. What happens to my data?⌄
Your data stays in our system. If someone finds your sticker and scans it, they'll see your emergency info and the gate screen. You can request data deletion via email. We recommend ordering a replacement sticker and setting it up — it will use a new unique code.
Does my sticker expire?⌄
No. As long as pingICE is running, your sticker works. The QR code is permanently linked to your profile.
