Terms of Service & Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

⚠️ Not a substitute for emergency services. pingICE is a supplementary notification tool only. Always call 000 (Australia), 911 (US/CA), or your local emergency number first in any life-threatening situation.

Terms of Service

1. What pingICE Does

pingICE is a QR-code-based emergency notification service. When a QR sticker on your vehicle is scanned by a third party, it displays your emergency medical information and allows the scanner to send an SMS notification to your nominated emergency contacts.

2. Your Responsibilities

  • You must ensure the information you provide is accurate and up to date.
  • You are responsible for obtaining consent from your emergency contacts before listing their phone numbers.
  • You must not list any person's phone number without their knowledge and permission.
  • You are responsible for keeping your sticker link active and your profile updated.

3. SMS Notifications

By registering, you authorise pingICE to send SMS messages to the emergency contact numbers you provide, on your behalf, when your QR code is scanned. Standard message rates may apply to recipients. We use Twilio to deliver these messages. You confirm your nominated contacts have agreed to receive such messages.

4. No Guarantee of Delivery

pingICE does not guarantee that SMS messages will be delivered, that emergency contacts will be reachable, or that the service will be available at all times. Network outages, carrier restrictions, and other factors may prevent delivery. Do not rely solely on pingICE in an emergency — call emergency services first.

5. Limitation of Liability

pingICE and its operators are not liable for any loss, injury, or damage arising from the use or inability to use this service, including but not limited to failed SMS delivery, delayed notifications, or inaccurate information provided by users. Use of this service is entirely at your own risk.

6. Service Changes & Termination

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the service at any time without notice. We will endeavour to provide reasonable advance notice of any material changes where possible.

When your QR code is scanned, we may also collect the approximate location of the person scanning (if they grant browser permission), which is included in the SMS notification to your contacts.

2. How We Use Your Data

  • To display your emergency information when your QR code is scanned.
  • To send SMS alerts to your emergency contacts when your QR is scanned.
  • We do not sell, share, or use your data for marketing or advertising.
  • We do not use your data for any purpose beyond providing this emergency notification service.

3. Data Storage

Your data is stored securely in Supabase (supabase.com), hosted on cloud infrastructure. Data is retained for as long as your profile is active. We implement reasonable security measures, but no internet-based service can guarantee absolute security.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate pingICE:

5. Sensitive Information
