Terms of Service & Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026

⚠️ Not a substitute for emergency services. pingICE is a supplementary notification tool only. Always call 000 (Australia), 911 (US/CA), or your local emergency number first in any life-threatening situation.

Terms of Service

1. What pingICE Does

pingICE is a QR/NFC-tag platform that powers several safety products from a single account:

  • Emergency Stickers — when scanned, display your emergency and medical information and let the scanner send an SMS alert to your nominated contacts.
  • Lost & Found Tags — when a lost item is found and scanned, allow the finder to reach you via a private relay (your number stays hidden) or your chosen direct contact details.
  • Accident Reports — a guided form to document an incident and export a PDF for your insurer.
  • Keychain — a combined tag that acts as both an accident-report shortcut for you and a Lost & Found tag for finders.

2. Your Responsibilities

  • You must ensure the information you provide is accurate and up to date.
  • You are responsible for obtaining consent from your emergency contacts before listing their phone numbers.
  • You must not list any person's phone number without their knowledge and permission.
  • You must only upload photos and information you have the right to share, and must not upload unlawful or offensive content.
  • You are responsible for keeping your tags active and your profile updated.

3. SMS & Notifications

By registering, you authorise pingICE to send SMS messages on your behalf — to your emergency contacts when an Emergency Sticker is scanned, and to your own notification number when someone messages you through a Lost & Found tag. Standard message rates may apply. We use Twilio to deliver these messages. You confirm your nominated contacts have agreed to receive such messages.

4. No Guarantee of Delivery

pingICE does not guarantee that SMS messages will be delivered, that emergency contacts will be reachable, or that the service will be available at all times. Network outages, carrier restrictions, and other factors may prevent delivery. Do not rely solely on pingICE in an emergency — call emergency services first.

5. Limitation of Liability

pingICE and its operators are not liable for any loss, injury, or damage arising from the use or inability to use this service, including but not limited to failed SMS delivery, delayed notifications, or inaccurate information provided by users. Use of this service is entirely at your own risk.

6. Service Changes & Termination

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the service at any time without notice. We will endeavour to provide reasonable advance notice of any material changes where possible.

Privacy Policy

1. What Data We Collect

Depending on which products you use, we may collect:

  • Your full name and contact details
  • Blood type, allergies and medical notes (optional, Emergency)
  • Emergency contact names and phone numbers
  • Vehicle registration and insurance details (optional)
  • Lost & Found item names, descriptions, categories and photos you upload
  • Accident report details you enter, including the other party's information, photos and location
  • Messages sent to you by finders through Lost & Found relay

When a tag is scanned, we record basic scan activity (a timestamp and, where the scanner grants browser permission, an approximate location) so we can show you when your tags are used and, for Emergency Stickers, include location in the alert to your contacts.

2. How We Use Your Data

  • To display the information you choose when your tag is scanned.
  • To send SMS alerts to your emergency contacts, and to notify you when a finder messages you.
  • To relay messages between finders and you without revealing your phone number (relay mode).
  • To generate accident-report PDFs for you to share with your insurer.
  • We do not sell, share, or use your data for marketing or advertising.
  • We do not use your data for any purpose beyond providing these safety services.

3. Data Storage

Your data is stored securely in Supabase (supabase.com), hosted on cloud infrastructure. Data is retained for as long as your profile is active. We implement reasonable security measures, but no internet-based service can guarantee absolute security.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate pingICE:

5. Sensitive Information

Your blood type, allergies, and medical notes are considered sensitive health information. By providing this information you explicitly consent to it being stored and displayed to anyone who scans your QR sticker, for the purpose of emergency medical assistance.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to request deletion of your data at any time. To delete your profile or request a copy of your data, contact us at the email below. We will process requests within 30 days.
